Durden Racing Stables and Facilities
Kathryn caters for up to 10-12 horses in work and trains out of her 25ac privately owned establishment at Moriac which is approx. 25 min outside of Geelong Victoria. She believes in a hands-on approach to each of her horses to ensure they receive the upmost care and attention.
They have a 1300m sand track used for slow work and utilize the Geelong training track to do fast work, generally twice a week. The facilities also include day yards, walkers, round yard, barriers to educate young horses and jumps are set up to either educate potential hurdlers or just give the flat horses a change of routine. Horses are also taken to the local beach which is only a short drive away.
Being a boutique stable they are able to cater for every horses individual needs. Older horses are trained from a paddock and they thrive in this environment, race consistently and retain their form. Young horses go out in the paddock during the day and are stabled at night. Highly strung horses are mated up with another quiet horse to keep them calm and settled. Kathryn believes in keeping her horses in a natural environment to keep them relaxed, happy and healthy.
